Some of my earliest influences as a music writer were the liner notes on the back of my Prestige, Blue Note & Riverside LPs that were written by guys like LeRoi Jones, A.B. Spellman, Nat Hentoff, Ira Gitler and Orrin Keepnews. In the 1990s when I was living in New Orleans I enjoyed the opportunity to write liner notes for a lot of my favorite musicians for a wide variety of obscure labels and have gathered quite a few of them here.
